Meet our Preschool Director - Rebeka Russell
I am Rebeka Russell and I’m thrilled to be director of Grace Preschool. I have spent the past 25 years in the early childhood field and have taught as lead teacher in a variety of settings. My background education is in early childhood development but my many years of experience have prepared me in a more practical way for my position as preschool director. I am committed to providing your family with a loving and nurturing learning environment that allows your child to grow and develop in all areas of his/her life. I believe in giving children the respect and care they need and deserve, as well as providing guidance to facilitate their becoming an independent and confident individual. Additionally, I very much value my faith and feel it is an integral part of my life to share that faith with others, especially young children.
I have been married for 20 years and have two beautiful twin teenage daughters. We enjoy walks in nature with our dog, spending time with extended family, and participating in art projects for fun. I am devoted to maintaining a family oriented school where children feel free to be themselves and explore engaging activities, experiences, and materials on a daily basis. Preschool should be a place where a child feels welcome and excited to come in the door, where there is encouragement and the child is praised as a unique and valued person, and where they learn that they have a lot to offer. I am a firm believer in teaching and leading by example. That is the natural way for a child to develop positive character attributes and grow into becoming a good friend to others.
Meet our Preschool Teachers -
My name is Mrs. Zorin. I am SUPER blessed to be a part of The Grace Preschool Team!! Teaching is my passion and I can’t wait to share it with you and your child! I truly believe that children need love, care, patience, and an educational environment where they can have fun in a structured setting. I believe that every day is an opportunity to grow our mind, body, and soul in grace. Every child learns at his/her own pace and I do my best to create a differentiated educational environment for the children to learn in their own space. I attended Northeastern Illinois University where I received a Bachelors of Science, majoring in Sociology and Early Childhood Education. I am currently working on my Masters where I am studying to become a Reading specialist. I have been teaching for over 9 years. I was a Kindergarten and first grade teacher for a few years and have worked as a reading and math teacher for K-4 th as well. I have tons of experience in developing curriculum for children on healthy eating as I was a cooking teacher as well.
I have a sweet little girl named Aiyla! She is my blessing and I absolutely LOVE spending time with her! I am looking forward to a FABULOUS school year!!
Mary Ellen Hahn (substitute)
I’m Ms. Mary Ellen Hahn, the children know me as Ms. Mary and I am excited to introduce myself as your child’s substitute here at Grace Preschool. I have been teaching and working with children throughout my career and started working at Grace Preschool in 2018.
I have earned my state licensed paraprofessional in education as well as my Bachelors Degree in Business. I have worked in the pediatric medical and education field for roughly 25 years. I genuinely enjoy nurturing and caring for children of all ages but, my favorite level is preschool. My teaching philosophy is centered around the idea that each child is a unique individual, therefore they learn and thrive at their own pace.
In my spare time, I enjoy talking with my daughter who lives in Virginia, working with animals, and doing any craft or creative endeavor.
Haley Dirks (substitute)
Hello! My name is Ms. Haley and I am one of the Preschool Substitutes at Grace. I am a graduate from Harper with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. My experience is working with children of all ages from birth to school aged in a variety of settings.
I have a passion for children and love seeing them grow each day as they learn new things. A few of my favorite activities are going on vacation with the family, playing board games, scrapbooking, hanging out with friends, reading, as well as doing arts and crafts. My favorite Bible story is “Noah’s Ark”. A few of my favorite children’s books are: “The Very Hungry Caterpillar, If you Give A Mouse a Cookie, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”.
I look forward to working with the staff and the children, as well as getting to know all the parents.
