Meet our Preschool Director - Jaime Wright

I have been with Grace Preschool since 2019! I have been devoted to the early childhood education field for twenty plus years. My first experience in early childhood started as a part time assistant teacher in high school. I can say I was blessed at an early age to discover my passion for educating young minds. Twenty plus years forward I have grown from an assistant teacher into a lead teacher and manager of early childhood.

I graduated from National-Louis University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a focus in Child Psychology along with my State License Paraprofessional for Teaching Elementary and Middle School children.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family. My loving husband and I enjoy raising our adventurous son who graduated from Grace Preschool in 2019. We enjoy all outdoor activities and exploring new adventures together.

I am also a board member for Characters of Character Education, a non profit organization that teaches children of all ages good character traits. Our goal is to help teach children to love themselves so they can love others and grow to be positive role models in our society. Friendship Frog, Do'er Duck, Behavior Bear and Self-Esteem Elephant are just a few of my favorite character traits.

As an advocate, educator and role model to young children, I understand that children are full of energy and curiosity and I promise to bring a great deal of patience and humor to Grace Preschool. Reaching children and helping them learn requires a great deal of creativity and flexibility. I look forward to providing a safe, positive and educational environment for the preschool children, supporting their families and mentoring the amazing teachers of Grace Preschool.

At Grace Preschool we believe in teaching our children through play and providing them with a strong foundation for future academic success.

Meet our Preschool Teachers -

Mary Ellen Hahn  (substitute)

I’m Ms. Mary Ellen Hahn, the children know me as Ms. Mary and I am excited to introduce myself as your child’s substitute here at Grace Preschool.  I have been teaching and working with children throughout my career and started working at Grace Preschool in 2018.

I have earned my state licensed paraprofessional in education as well as my Bachelors Degree in Business. I have worked in the pediatric medical and education field for roughly 25 years.  I genuinely enjoy nurturing and caring for children of all ages but, my favorite level is preschool.  My teaching philosophy is centered around the idea that each child is a unique individual, therefore they learn and thrive at their own pace.

In my spare time, I enjoy talking with my daughter who lives in Virginia, working with animals, and doing any craft or creative endeavor.

Haley Dirks  (substitute)

Hello! My name is Ms. Haley and I am one of the Preschool Substitutes at Grace. I am a graduate from Harper with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. My experience is working with children of all ages from birth to school aged in a variety of settings.

I have a passion for children and love seeing them grow each day as they learn new things. A few of my favorite activities are going on vacation with the family, playing board games, scrapbooking, hanging out with friends, reading, as well as doing arts and crafts. My favorite Bible story is “Noah’s Ark”. A few of my favorite children’s books are: “The Very Hungry Caterpillar, If you Give A Mouse a Cookie, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”.

I look forward to working with the staff and the children, as well as getting to know all the parents.

Meet our Pastor - Dan Schwick

Pastor Dan Schwick has served at Grace Lutheran Church and Preschool since 2017.  “Pastor Dan” spent most of his career as director of government relations and church relations for Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI), one of the state’s largest private child welfare agencies.

Dan and his wife are parents to three grown sons and have been rescued by two great shelter pups.

On most Mondays and Tuesdays, Pastor Dan shares Bible stories, songs and fun movements with the kids of Grace Preschool.
